We often think of canals as waterways for drainage or irrigation. However, under the guidance of Denise Dunlop, this historical canal was transformed into a welcoming promenade for Downtown Chandler. This article describes how the canal now provides vibrant color, historical information and pedestrian circulation while delivering irrigation water to the historic San Marcos Resort and surrounding area.
