Civic Space Park

Phoenix, Arizona

An iconic anchor for downtown Phoenix.

  • The park weaves together an urban oasis with the downtown fabric.

  • Public and private, past and future, and art and engineering are integrated into the design.

  • The partnership of the City of Phoenix, ASU, the community, and designers created a true destination at the city’s heart.

Civic Space Park is a 2.7-acre, urban in-fill site. The park offers a compelling experience of urban design, green space, shade structures, interactive LED lighting columns and water features, and a major public art installation by Janet Echelman. The park is also central to ASU’s downtown campus, with a focus on pedestrian passages, bus routes, and light rail connections.

*Jay Hicks and Chad Atterbury led the design and construction while with another firm.
