Englewood Downtown Matters Plan

Englewood, Colorado

A bold, new vision for the metro
area’s original transit-oriented
downtown.

Dig Studio is leading a large effort to craft a new Downtown Plan for the City of Englewood as part of the State of Colorado requirements for creating a Downtown Development Authority that will guide investment and capital projects for the next 20 years. The Downtown Plan, guided by representatives from three major downtown districts, outlines recommendations for post-pandemic recovery and for five key sectors: Economy, Jobs & Homes; Marketing & Programming; Public Spaces & PlaceMaking; Mobility, Parking & Transportation; and Land Use & Urban Design.

The Downtown Plan envisions a dense, walkable urban center for Englewood that takes full advantage of the existing Light Rail station and leverages the key advantages of the South Broadway “Main Street” and the two hospitals just to the east.

  • Streetscape enhancements and pedestrian gateways create an opportunity for improved walkability and a stronger downtown brand identity.

  • Infill housing development will increase the vitality of
downtown and better connect the three districts.

  • Completing the gap in the Little Dry Creek trail system is a key component of a new public realm network.
