An exciting intervention that links Downtown to the Ballpark District.
The design incorporated painted street patterns to delineate the bikeway, entry gateways, a stage, areas for gathering, court play, a dog run, shade elements and planters that incorporate seating.
Each element was designed to be temporary, easy to build, and inexpensive; yet sturdy enough to last all summer.
Dig Studio led a half day design charette with City Staff, participated in meetings with stakeholders and met with the contractor to discuss construction options.
Dig Studio created a design for the temporary installation and activation of The Square on 21st during the summer of 2017. The City will permanently install the Park Blocks as part of the Downtown Loop project based upon the testing and feedback from the demonstration project.
